Overview

This program focuses on learning more about nursing practices in another part of the world. Students will have the opportunity to compare and contrast the health care systems in the United States and Belize by touring different medical facilities abroad. The program focuses on strengthening students' perspectives in the health care system and discovering alternative forms of medicine that can be utilized effectively. While on this week long program, students will find themselves immersed in the culture while touring but more importantly students will explore and learn the health programs in Belize.


Academics

International Experience: Belize

Students will complete part 3 of the health education project. This will consist of dissemination of the evaluation process. Upon return, students will be required to participate in a group presentation for peers to learn about the cultural experiences and health care delivery system of Belize.


Attractions

Hospital tours to a few locations to learn more about differences, Lubaantun Archeological site,  Blue Creek, Chocolate making, and more! 


Housing

Students will stay in Hostels and homestays during the experience.


Admission

  • Successful completion of First and Second semester of nursing course work
  • GPA of 2.0 or higher
  •  Open to nursing students only
