During this 1 week experience, students will have the opportunity to explore the town of Alnwick and the Alnwick Castle while observing history in the making. This program lets students seize an opportunity to observe first-hand the political, economic, and social dimensions of the historic UK BREXIT transition across a range of UK geographies. We will visit political and financial institutions, tour British companies, research different sectors of the UK economy, consider political views across the UK, explore immigration, trade, regulation, customs unions, etc. in the context of BREXIT. Alnwick is in northern England and students will reside inside the castle that is home to the Duke and Duchess of Northumberland. To many, it is also known as “the Harry Potter Castle.”  Students take classes while living inside the castle in order to get a better understanding of British Culture. At Alnwick Castle the students will be able to experience the ideas and course content in a way that is impossible to do while sitting in a classroom at St. Cloud, MN.

Touring the cities and locations that will have a large impact moving forward and comparing and contrasting the larger and smaller cities impacts. Those cities include: London, Alnwick, Aberdeen, and Edinburgh.

SCSU students live in dormitory-styled rooms inside of Alnwick Castle. Single rooms are available upon request for an extra cost, but the typical dorm rooms fit two to four students in them. On the castle grounds there is a kitchen, dining hall, recreation room, laundry room, and library.
