Overview

During this two week experience in China, students will have the opportunity to explore three different cities Beijing, Siping, and Chungchun. Students have the chance to fully immerse themselves in the Chinese culture by being paired with a host Chinese student from Jilin Normal University. Students will gain an insight on family dynamics in the Chinese culture through a home stay with their host student. Students will take multiple classes while on this trip some of the classes they will partake in are beginners Chinese Language, an Appreciation of Chinese Opera, and Chinese Calligraphy. Explore the amazing opportunity to explore the spectacular sites China has to offer!

Academics

Students will take one class that is worth three - six credits:

  • SOC 410/510
Students are also required to enroll in a Chinese language tutoring sessions during spring semester. Accepted students will receive more information after the February 1st deadline.

Attractions

Students have the opportunity to explore three different cities in China. Many of the attractions include:

  • The Great Wall of China
  • Visit the US Embassy, the Summer Palace, the Temple of Heaven
  • Museum of Yitong Manchu Autonomous County
 

Housing 

SCSU students will stay in Jilin Normal University accommodations, hotels, and a family stay. 
 




Admission

  • GPA of 2.0 or higher
  • Good standing at the University
