First year students at SCSU have the unique opportunity of studying at the prestigious Taylor’s University as freshmen. The Malaysia Taylor’s University program offers the chance for students to live and study at an institute with a focus on global education. It seeks to expose students to the rich multicultural and multiethnic heritage of Malaysian society. By immersing themselves in a culture different from their own, students are given the opportunity to compare cultures and gain a better understanding of both themselves and the world.
The First Year Experience program in Malaysia requires that students take the INTL 199: First Year Experience course.
Students enroll directly in Taylor’s University-Lakeside, one of Malaysia’s most successful private colleges. An established course equivalency table makes it easy for students to choose courses; however, course offerings will still vary by semester.
Students will live in Subang Jaya, just a short ride away from Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia. Kuala Lumpur, commonly called KL, has a population of approximately 1.8 million people. It is an exciting combination of the traditional old world and urban modern. The city offers plenty of entertainment and leisure activities for people including shopping centers, cafes and restaurants, and sports and fitness facilities. The capital city is also internationally renowned for its higher education institutions as there are a number of international private colleges and universities for people to attend. Malaysia as a whole is becoming an increasingly well-known country not only for its international education opportunities but its vacation spots as well, drawing more tourists each year.
SCSU students attending Taylor’s University have the option to live either on or off campus. Off campus housing is located close to the university with access to public transportation. Students are assisted by the University for their housing needs.
