Then participate in the Australia Program during the following spring or summer.  The course fulfills goal 10 course requirement in their LEP goal area even if they decide not to participate in the Australia Program.

As an international student at Southern Cross University (SCU), you will have the ability to register for any of the courses offered on campus on a space available basis and providing that you meet all pre-requisites of the course that you select. Southern Cross University offers a large variety of courses such as Arts/Humanities, Business & Computing, Education, Criminal Justice, and Travel and Tourism, etc. Many education abroad students choose to take the Outdoor Education class, which includes intensive field experiences.

Lismore offers a wealth of art galleries for visitors and locals alike to explore. A good example would be the Aboriginal Art Gallery where visitors can learn about the Aboriginal culture of the traditional land owners of the Lismore area, the Bundjalung People, through the artwork they’ve created.

Australia in general has amazing outdoor opportunities, but Lismore in particular boasts the nearby rainforest which is recognized as a World Heritage Site. Hiking opportunities are also abundant in the nearby Nimbin area.

Other nearby popular attractions include Byron Bay, a popular surfing destination for travelers, locals, and backpackers alike. The beach is noted for whale watching and other significant wildlife.

Students will live in University sponsored apartment housing within walking distance to Southern Cross. In addition, students will share these apartments with other exchange and study abroad students from around the world. Their residential life program is designed to create a living situation that will help students in all aspects of their study abroad experience.
