Students are invited to join the Songsim Global Campus where they can fully immerse themselves in the Korean culture. The Songsim Global Campus offers St. Cloud State University students the chance to study abroad for one semester or an academic year at their beautiful campus. All of the courses for SCSU students will be taught in English, with the exception of the required Korean language courses. These required language courses will enhance the students' understanding of the culture and enable them to better interact with community members. SCSU exhange students will stay in university owned and operated residence halls. The campus is located in Seoul, the remarkable capital city of South Korea. Seoul is a modern city with many parks, coffee shops, shopping areas, and restaurants as well as an amazing nightlife. During time off from school, students can travel around the region with the convenient subway system.
To participate in this program, students must take 6 credits of Korean Language & Culture. Students will then select another 6-9 credits that can either fulfill major, general, or goal area requirements at St. Cloud State University. Students should meet with an advisor in the Education Abroad office to review course options. The credits earned at Songsim Global Campus will transfer back to St. Cloud State University.
Students can easily take the fast train around the districts of Seoul for a weekend excursion or even to the coastal regions. Local attractions in the Seoul area include: the Myeong Dong shopping district, Seoul Tower, the National Museum of Korea, Lotte World, and the Seoul World Cup Stadium, just to name a few. There is something for everyone in this impressive country.
SCSU students are housed in on-campus residence halls alongside fellow Korean students. This integration helps foster a sense of community which is one of the primary goals of this university.
