Vrije University is a public university with enrollment of about 23,000 students. Amsterdam has a thriving cultural atmosphere including many festivals, museums, events, and great food! It is also home to the world’s oldest stock exchange, which is located in the city center.

SCSU students will be able to take four courses at Vrije University. It is highly recommended that students take at least one cultural course, along with other courses that will go toward their major/minor or general electives. The semester is split into two 8 week sessions. Two classes are taken in the first session and two are taken in the second session. Classes taken at Vrije University are easily transferrable to SCSU.
Amsterdam presents many notable attractions that bring in almost 4 million international visitors annually. One of the most famed attractions is the Anne Frank House, where Anne Frank went into hiding and wrote her well-known diary during World War II. Amsterdam has many excellent museums including, the Van Gogh Museum, the Stedelijk modern art museum, and Rijksmuseum—dedicated to the arts and history of Amsterdam. Other attractions include Amsterdam’s historic canals that weave their way through the city, the beautiful tulip fields that litter the countryside, and the numerous parks throughout the city.
